Propagation
Seeds require scarification by nicking the seed coat and soaking in water for 24 hours prior to sowing and apply bottom heat.

Division of the plant during autumn but the plant recovers slowly as the plant has deep roots that normally become damaged.


Botanic information
Leaf: The trifoliolate leaves have elliptical to obovate or lanceolate leaflets that are up to 76 mm (3in) long with an obtuse apex. The underside is glaucous and densely pubescent and the petiole is up to 25 mm (1in) long.

Flower: The papillionate flowers have rounded standard petals and equally sized keel and wing petals. They are arranged in a dense terminal raceme that is up to 300 mm (24in) long and is held above the foliage on a slender scape that appears during early summer.

Fruit: The pubescent pods are flat and narrow turning brown when mature and splitting open after 5-6 weeks. They contain numerous hard-coded seeds that require scarification prior to sowing. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
