Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are composed of 6-9-oblong to elliptical leaflets up to 100 mm (4 in) long by 25 mm (1 in) wide with an acute apex and short petioles. The dark green upper surface is glabrous and the pale green underside is sparsely pubescent.

Flower: The deep red to rose pink single cyathiform flowers have broad-ovate petals with numerous short yellow stamens. They appear singularly above the foliage on a green scape from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The horizontal follicles contain numerous berry-like red seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.

Cut flowers
Peony has approximately 5-7 days of vase life and is sensitive to wilt so they should be kept in water as soon as they are cut. Avoid wetting the petals is this only encourages mould and the larger flowers of some cultivars may require wire support and allowances for a fully opened bloom in the arrangement.
