Division of the clump or rosettes during spring.
Sow fresh seed during autumn in containers and a place in an open frame. Prick out one large enough to handle and a pot on during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The thick leathery textured spathulate leaves have an obtuse 3-toothed apex and is up to 6 mm (¥ in) wide and tapers to a long petiole. The leaves tend to fold inwards from midrib and are arranged densely in a basal rosette.
Flower: The bisexual sessile tubulate flowers have 5-calyx lobes and a 2-lipped corolla with the lower lip divided into linear segments. They have 4-inserted stamens and a superior ovary. The flowers are arranged in a dense umbel-like flower-head that is up to 10 mm (? in) wide and is accompanied by small bracts. It is held high above the foliage on a slender dark scape during early summer.
Fruit: The tiny nutlet is enclosed in persistent calyx and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
