Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during autumn and place in a cold frame until germination occurs, during mid to late winter. Prick out and pot up when large enough to handle. Stored seeds require stratification for 90 days at -1.6ºC (32 to 36°F).
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are narrow lanceolate up to 16 mm (? in) wide with an acute apex and a tapering base to a petiole that is up to 12 mm (½ in)long. Young leaves are covered in a grey tomentum and mature to glabrous glossy green on the upper surface and pubescent on the underside. The margins are entire to finely serrate.
Flower: The small creamy white to greenish cyathiform flowers have 5-sepals and petals with numerous stamens that have black anthers. There are 6-8 flowers arranged in a dense rounded corymb that appears during early spring.
Fruit: The pear shaped pome is yellowish green up to 33 mm (1¥ in) wide with a hard texture and has an astringent taste.
