Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C.
Division of the clump in autumn.
Rhizome cuttings taken during winter and placed under glass. Plant out after danger of frosts.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mottled mid green pinnate leaves are up to 255 mm (10 in) long and have 3 to 9 ovate leaflets that are up to 80 mm (3 in) long. The slender stalked leaflets have an acute apex and an uneven cordate base with spinulose-subserrulate margins.
Flower: The pendant bright yellow crateriform flowers are 20 mm (µ in) wide with 4-spreading rounded petals with a protruding style and a very slender pedicle. They are arranged in a open lax raceme that appears above the foliage from mid to late spring.
Fruit: The small capsule produces tiny seeds that are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
