Propagation
The seeds have no dormancy period and are sown when collected in pots. In cool climates place the pots in a cold frame to germinate.

Botanic information
Leaf: The long linear needle-like leaves have a pointed apex and minutely serrulate margins. There are 5-forward pointing leaves arranged in a bundle with the upper surface dark green and the underside greyish with 3-5 white somatic bands and the deciduous sheath is up to 15 mm (? in) long.

Flower: The tree is monoecious and produces(male) strobilithat are green with golden pollen and the female cones are solitary or arranged in groups of 3 to 4 and appear during spring.

Fruit: The pendant ovate-oblong almost cylindrical resinous cones are slightly curved and are green ripening to orange-brown with adpressed slightly incurved scales that are unarmed, smooth and up to 20 mm long. The grey brown seeds are up to 8 mm (? in) long and have a wing that is up to 20 mm (µ in) long and mature in 17 to 18 months after pollination.
