Propagation
Collect fresh seed when green and so directly in containers and then place on a cold frame until germination occurs in spring.
Stored seeds required cool moist stratification and best germination results occur when seeds are sown in organic rich moist to wet soils. Transplants easily when young.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate leaves have 5-9 oblong to ovate leaflets that are 50-100 mm (4 in) long by 40 mm (1? in) wide and have slightly undulating, serrated margins. The apex is abruptly acute to acuminate and the upper surface as glabrous with only pubescence appearing at the base of the mid-rib on the underside.
Flower: The crateriform flowers have 4-calyx lobes and 4-linear white twisted petals that are up to 6 mm (¥ in) long. They are arranged in a large showy panicle that is up to 127mm (5 in) long and appears during spring. The flowers are pollinated by insects.
Fruit: The narrow oblong winged samara are up to 5 mm (? in) wide and mature to light brown. They are arranged in a long pendant cluster and are disbursed by wind and water.
