Propagation
Collect fresh seed when green and so directly in containers and then place on a cold frame until germination occurs in spring. Stored seeds required cool moist stratification and best germination results occur when seeds are sown in organic rich moist to wet soils.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous pinnate leaves have 3-5 ovate to lanceolate sessile leaflets that are up to 80 mm (3? in)long by 45 mm (1µ in) wide with the terminal one being the largest. The texture is thin leathery with an acute to long-acuminate apex and the margin is serrate to entire. The new growth is a pale green maturing to dark green and has reddish tints during autumn before falling.

Flower: The tree is polygamous and the staminate flowers have an inconspicuous calyx and the corolla has 4-white to yellowish linear to narrow lanceolate petals that are up to 5 mm (¥ in) long.

The bisexual crateriform flowers are similar but with shorter lobes and the flowers are arranged in a congested terminal or axillary panicle that is to 120 mm (4µ in) wide appearing profusely after the foliage from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The linear to linear-spathulate winged samara are up to 4 mm (? in) wide and are pubescent with dotted reddish glands. They are arranged in a pendant cluster and are disbursed by wind and water.
