Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame or sow in a prepared bed. Seeds may require some stratification.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dull bluish green 4-angled curved linear leaves have a yellowish pungent apex with 4 to 8 stomatic bands on both sides. The leaf cushion is glaucous and the leaves are pointing forward or ascending predominantly on the upper part of the branchlet.

Flower: The staminate (male) pollen cones are catkin-like and the greenish woody pistillate (female) cones are upright at first, then bend down becoming pendent.The monoecious flowers appear during spring and are pollinated by wind.

Fruit: The oblong cylindrical female cones are greenish when a young maturing to pale reddish brown and are up to 160 mm (6¥ in) long by 35mm (1? in) wide with an obtuse apex. It has obovate scales have entire margins and contain 2-pale brown obovate winged seeds up to 11 mm (? in) long.
