Propagation
Collect seeds when green and they can be sowed directly or stratify for 2 to 3 months and then place in a cold frame. Germination may take up to 1 year.
Botanic information
Leaf: The palmately lobed leaves are palmately veined with 9-13 shallow lobes that have sharply serrated margins and acuminate apex. The petiole is up to 70mm (2? in) long and the leaf is up to 120mm (4µin) wide. During autumn the leaves vary in colour with shades from brilliant gold to orange or dark red,
Flower: The cyathiform flowers have 5- purplish sepals and 5-pale yellow petals that are quickly shed and red stamens. There are 10-20 flowers arranged in an erect terminal corymb that appears with the new foliage during spring.
Fruit: The twin samara is bright red maturing to brown with long glabrous wings that diverged almost horizontally and the 5-10mm (?in) nutlet is a dark purplish-brown. They are arranged in erect cluster above the foliage.
