Propagation
Collect seeds when green and they can be sowed directly or stratify for 2 to 3 months and then place in a cold frame.

Germination may take up to 1 year. The seed coat on the species is thin and should not be allowed to dry out or become too wet as it will rot.


Botanic information
Leaf: The broad ovate leaves are slightly cordate at the base and the apex is long acuminate. The new growth has a red tinge and mature foliage can develop 3-5 lobes. The reddish petiole is up to 60 mm (2?in) long and the leaves turn orange red during autumn before falling.

Flower: The small cyathiform (cup-shaped) greenish flowers have 5-tepals that are tinged red on the outside and the slender pedestal is reddish. The flowers arranged in a pendant raceme that is up to 80mm (3?in)long with a deep red peduncle, and appear during mid-spring with the foliage.

Fruit: The small greenish twin samara has wings that diverged almost horizontally and are partially hidden by the persistent calyx.
