Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in flats and prick out when large enough to handle, then pot up and grow on for one season.
Division of the clump, bulbs can be lifted and stored in a dry place until spring or can remain in the soil and be divided at the end of the dormancy period.
Note:
It prefers a semi-shade position with cool air and moist soil. During the growing period it can have a weekly application of balanced fertiliser and during the dormant period watering should be stopped.
Botanic information
Leaf: The trifoliate leaves have obtriangular leaflets that are up to 25 mm (1 in) long and are dark green above and purplish underneath. During the night the leaves close and then reopen during daylight (nyctinastic movement). The fleshy purplish to pale green petiole is up to 65 mm (2½ in) long.
Flower: The white to pale pink funnelform flowers have 5-spreading obovate to-oblong petals and a long slender greenish pedestal. There are 3-7 arranged in a loose umbel that is held just above the foliage or a peduncle that is up 150 mm (6 in) long and appear during spring.
Fruit: The tiny loculicidal capsule fruit contains seeds with elastic testa. The tiny seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
