Propagation
Sow fresh seed thinly when ripe autumn and germination normally occurs with in 6-weeks. For stored seeds allow up to 2 years for germination. Prick out when large enough to handle and grow on in a pot for 2-seasons due to the sensitive roots.

Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate leaves have 9-broad to narrow elliptical leaflets with an acute apex and a cuneate base. The upper textured surface is bluish-green and the underside is pale green.

Flower: The purplish-red cyathiform flowers have 5-broad-ovate petals with ruffled margins and numerous short yellow stamens. They appear singularly above the foliage on a green scape from mid-to-late spring.

Fruit: The horizontal brown follicles contain numerous spherical black seeds that are accompanied by reddish bracts. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
