Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 to 3 months during winter then sow in spring. The seeds have a double dormancy and may germinate in 12-months, the seeds must be kept moist.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green pinnate leaves have 3-5 oblong-ovate leaflets that are up to 90mm (3½ in) long with an acuminate apex and finely serrated margins. During autumn the leaves turn dull yellow before falling.
Flower: The small greenish-white campanulate flowers have 5-sepals and petals and 5-stamens. They are arranged in a erect to nodding panicle that is up to 127 mm (5 in) long and wide and appear from spring to early summer. The hermaphrodite flowers are pollinated by insects.
Fruit: The inflated greenish capsule has 2-3 lobes and contains pale brown seeds that are up to 8mm (? in) long. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
