Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring, in containers. Cold stratification is not required.
Semi-hardwood cuttings taken during the growing period and place in a protected environment. Keep moist and warm.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery ovate leaves are up to 80 mm (3? in)wide with a reddish petiole to 30 mm (1? in)long and folded upwards along the mid rib. The apex is acute to acuminate and the entire margin is undulating.
Flower: The small bisexual crateriform flowers have 5-red sepals and 5-white pink petals with ciliate margins and are arranged in a short dense branched spike that appears during late winter.
Fruit: The reddish pubescent globular drupe has is sticky exocarp and is up to 8 mm (? in) in diameter. It appears from spring to summer and the small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
