The upper surface is glabrous with 8-12 pairs of veins and the glabrous underside is dull green. They are arranged alternately on reddish twigs and the shrub can be semi evergreen.

Flower: The tiny bisexual cyathiform flowers have 5-sepals and 5-petals and there are 5-60 arranged in an axillary umbel that appears during spring. The flowers tend to be inconspicuous and not a feature of the plant.
