Botanic information
Leaf: The larger narrow-lanceolate basal leaves are up to 600 mm (2ft) long by 60 mm (2? in) wide and the sessile stem leaves ovate-lanceolate. The apex is acuminate and the upper surface has silvery white spots.

Flower: The long-lasting funnelform flowers have greenish-red pubescent sepals and 4-spreading blue-purple petals. They are arranged in a dense pubescent terminal cyme that is held above the foliage on a tall leafy scape during spring.

Fruit: The small broad nutlet produces viable seeds but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
