Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in containers and keep moist. Germination is erratic and seedlings should be placed in a very well drained media. Cuttings taken during the growing period and kept moist (no mist).

Grafted varieties are available and are suitable for heavier soils and are Phytophthora resistant.


Botanic information
Leaf: The small sessile lineart leaves are terete in cross-section and have a mucronate apex. They are arranged densely along the stems pointing upwards.

Flower: The tiny tubulate flowers have fused petals that form a tube with numerous exserted stamens. They appear in the leaf axils towards the end of the branchlets from winter to early spring.

Fruit: The tiny capsule contains numerous fine seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
