Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in containers and keep moist. Germination is erratic and seedlings should be placed in a very well drained media. Cuttings taken during the growing period and kept moist (no mist).
Grafted varieties are available and is suitable for heavier soils and are Phytophthora resistant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile grey green linear leaves terete in cross-section and have a mucronate apex.
Flower: The tubulate flowers have fringed sepals that are yellow at the base and fused petals that form a tube with a very long protruding style. They appear towards the end of the branches in the leaf axils from late winter to early summer.
Fruit: The tiny capsule contains numerous fine seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
