Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in containers and keep moist. Germination is erratic and seedlings should be placed in a very well drained media. Cuttings taken during the growing period and kept moist (no mist).

Grafted varieties are available and are suitable for heavier soils and are Phytophthora resistant.


Botanic information
Leaf: The tiny dark green sessile linear leaves are terete in cross-section and have an obtuse to mucronate apex. They are arranged densely along the stems.

Flower: The tiny cyathiform flowers have feathery sepals and the petals form a short tube or are campanulate. They appear towards the end of the branches in the leaf axils and have a long flowering period from autumn to spring.

Fruit: The tiny capsule contains numerous fine seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
