Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in containers and keep moist. Germination is erratic and seedlings should be placed in a very well drained media. Cuttings taken during the growing period and kept moist (no mist).
Grafted varieties are available and is suitable for heavier soils and are Phytophthora resistant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile orbicular leaves have an obtuse apex and are arranged densely along the stems. The foliage is commonly used in floral arrangements.
Flower: The tubulate flowers have sepals that are fringed on margin and 5-fused petals that form a tube with a protruding style that is slightly curved at the tip. They appear towards the end of the branchlets in the leaf axils during spring and sporadically throughout the year.
Fruit: The tiny capsule may appear on the plant through out the year and contains numerous fine seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
