Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in containers and keep moist. Germination is erratic and seedlings should be placed in a very well drained media.
Cuttings taken during the growing period and kept moist (no mist).
Grafted varieties are available and are suitable for heavier soils and are Phytophthora resistant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The small dark green sessile oval leaves have a thick leathery texture and are arranged oppositely and alternately along the reddish stems.
Flower: The small cyathiform flowers have a feathery sepals and petals that are whitish on the inside with a cluster of yellow stamens and a protruding style. They are arranged in the leaf axil on a long reddish pedestal and appear profusely towards the end of the branchlets from winter to spring.
Fruit: The tiny capsule contains the numerous fine seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
