Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile leaves are narrow obovate to oblong, up to 40 mm (1?) wide with coarsely serrated margins on the upper half. The glossy green upper surface is pubescent and the basal leaves are obovate with a short petiole.

Flower: The large crateriform flowers have 5-spreading obovate purple petals and a yellow throat and are accompanied by an elliptical bracteoles that are up to 30 mm long. The flowers appear from spring to summer.

Fruit: The tiny fleshy, dark-blue to purple drupe normally contains 2-seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
