Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during early spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle. Grow in pots for one season before planting out. Seeds germinate easily.

Botanic information
Leaf: The grey green narrow to broad lanceolate adult leaves are up to 30 mm wide (1?in) with a thick leathery texture. The 15 mm (?in) long petiole is reddish and the apex is acuminate.

Flower: The red to yellowish flower buds are long-rostrate and strongly ribbed and the operculum is hemispherical or conical. It is also strongly ribbed and larger than the hypanthium. They are arranged in an axillary cluster of three or are solitary and appear from autumn to late winter. The flower colour varies from cream, white or yellow.

Fruit: The woody capsule is hemispherical up to 30 mm (1? in) wide and has prominent ribs. The disk is oblique and ascending forming a collar and the short deltoid valves are exserted. The capsule contains numerous red-grey to brown flattened seeds.


General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
