Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green ovate to broad-lanceolate juvenile leaves are up to 400 mm (16 in) long by 150 mm (6 in) wide and strongly discolorous. They arranged oppositely at first then becoming alternate. The dark green discolorous adult leaves are ovate to broad lanceolate up to 250 mm (9µ in) long by 70 mm (2? in) wide. The apex is acuminate and the petiole is up to 20 mm (µ in) long.

Flower: The glaucous buds are calvate to ovoid up to 25 mm (1 in) long by 17 mm (? in) wide with a ribbed hypanthium and a hemispherical operculum. When open the flowers have exserted white, pink, apricot or red filaments and 3 to 7-flowers are arranged in a large terminal corymbose panicle on a peduncle that is up to 30 mm (1? in) long and appear from early spring to early autumn.

Fruit: The brown woody cylindrical capsule may be faintly or prominently ribbed and the pedestal is short. It has a broad descending disk and the 3-valves are deeply enclosed. They contain numerous tiny viable seeds.
