Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in pots and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F), may requires scarification or pre soaking in water for several hours.


Botanic information
Leaf: The juvenile foliage is covered in rusty coloured tomentose and can form a fiddle-shaped outline with deep lobes. The smaller variable adult foliage is obovate with a prominent venation on the glossy green upper surface.

The underside is pale green with strong venation that is accentuated by bright rusty coloured hairs. The margin is entire or has a few teeth with an acuminate apex. During autumn some of the adult foliage turns reddish-orange before turning black, than falls.

Flower: The small tubular cream to brownish flowers have recurved petals and exserted white stamens. They are arranged densely in a pendant raceme that appears under the foliage with protection from the hot sun during summer.

Fruit: The fleshy bluish purple plum-like drupe is up to 25 mm (1 in) wide and contains an edible nut that is sweet and crispy.
