Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 24ºC.
Soft tip or semi-hardwood cuttings during late summer to early winter and apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured leaves are oblong to obovate or elliptical-oblong up to 100 mm (4 in) wide with an accumulate apex and a cordate base with a short thick petiole.
Flower: The crateriform flowers are solitary or arranged in groups of 3-7 in a terminal or axillary cluster that has a short peduncle. The calyx is cup-shape with 4-triangular lobes and has 4-petals alternately arranged accompanied by numerous exserted stamens. They appear during late spring.
Fruit: The white to red turban-shaped berry has a fleshy mesocarp up to 25 mm (1 in) wide and has a persistent style. It has a solitary seed and the fruit has a mild watery flavour when eaten. The fruiting period may occur twice throughout the season in tropical climates.
