Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green thick glabrous leathery texture elliptical leaves have an acuminate apex. The petiole is short and the mid vein is prominent.

Flower: The crateriform flowers have 4-small sepals and 4-spreading rounded white petals with a central cluster of spreading creamy-white stamens with pale yellow anthers. They have a long pedicle and appear solitary or in a small cluster along the stems or terminally during spring.

Fruit: The variable fleshy pendant purplish-red berry has a persistent calyx and contains 1-2 seeds. When eaten it has a sweet flavour tasting similar to a cherry. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
