Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are oblong to elliptical up to 80 mm (3? in) wide with an acute apex and a short petiole. The texture is thin leathery and the grey green upper surface has obvious pinnate venation and the underside is covered in pale rusty hairs.
Flower: The crateriform flowers have 5-rounded petals and numerous exserted white stamens with yellow anthers. They appear solitary or in small clusters up to three on a slender peduncle. The flowers appear from spring to summer but in tropical climates they may appear throughout the year.
Fruit: The small brownish green berry matures with a thick yellow skin with pale yellow flesh that surrounds white central pulp. It is edible on but has an acidic resinous flavour. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively. In tropical regions fruit may appear throughout the year.
