Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring or autumn in pots. Take care as seeds lose viability quickly.

Cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery texture oblong to elliptical leaves are up to 60 mm (2? in) wide. The apex is abruptly acuminate and the upper and lower surface is minutely pitted. The petiole is short and the new growth has a bronzy colour.

Flower: The crateriform flowers have 4-small sepals and 4-spreading rounded white petals with a central cluster of creamy-white stamens, with pale yellow anthers. They have a long pedicle and appear solitary or in a small cluster along the stems or terminally from late winter to spring.

Fruit: The variable fleshy pendant berry has a persistent calyx and contains 1-2 seeds. They are green turning red and maturing to dark purple or black quickly. When eaten it has a sweet flavour tasting similar to a cherry. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
