Propagation
Large stem cuttings taken after the fruiting period up to 300 mm (1ft) long back to the second node above the ground. The cuttings should be dipped into fungicide and the rooting and covered in hormone powder.

They are then place in a very well drained media and allow to callus. As a roots develop plant in two in situ at a depth of 200 mm (8in).

Botanic information
Leaf: The large leathery texture palmately lobed leaves have 7-9 oblong lobes with an acute apex and a long slender yellowish green petiole that clasps the stem. They are arranged upright to horizontally away from the trunk. The leaf lifespan is between 4-6 months and are shed during the cooler winter period.

Flower: The small greenish yellow funnelform flowers have 5-spreading lobes and appear from the side of the trunk in the leaf axils, on a long greenish pedestal. This shrub produces only female flowers and they appear during early summer.

Fruit: The large 5-sided oblong seedless berry is up to 200 mm (8in) wide and is rounded at the base and pointed at the apex. The fruit is initially green turning yellow as it ripens progressively from the lower fruit first. The juicy slightly acidic fruit is low in sugar and care should be taken when harvesting as it bruises easily.

Culture
The fruit can be picked when the yellowing begins and will ripen off the plant. The seedless fruit may be eaten raw with the addition of a little sugar. The fruit may also be cut and mixed in fruit salads or blended with honey to make a drink. In a cold storage the fruit has a shelf-life of about 4-weeks but care should be taken as it bruises easily.
