Sow fresh seeds during autumn and place in a protected environment to germinate. Seedling variation occurs regularly and seeds are prone to fungal attack.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured sessile broad ovate leaves are deeply concave with an obtuse apex and a yellowish entire margin. They are arranged densely and are overlapping towards the end of the branchlets.
Flower: The tiny tubulate flowers have a very short a pedestal with ovate to lanceolate bracts and the calyx and corolla is of equal size. They are arranged densely in a terminal raceme that is up to 40 mm (1? in) long and appears from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small erect broad-ovate capsule is glabrous with an acute apex. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
General information
Hebe requires an annual light prune to maintain a compact habit. If the plant becomes leggy a hard prune may result in dieback of the plant.
Hebe grows and produces more flowers in full sun, but will tolerate some shade. They are generally pH adaptable preferring and organic rich moist soil but care must be taken not to allow the roots to dry out. They also tolerate cold conditions and a widely cultivated in the UK and parts of the USA.
