Botanic information
Leaf: The yellow green linear phyllodes are up to 900 mm () tall and are either flat, normally appearing during a late summer and persisting throughout winter or in spring and summer form a slender red veined pitcher with a rounded mouth and a raised lid.
Flower: The yellow cyathiform flowers are nodding with the sepals forming a canopy over the enlarged style that resembles an inverted umbrella. The longer true petals drape down and out of the notches in the 5 lobes of the style. They appear high above the foliage on a slender stipe during spring.
Fruit: The seed head retains the curious shaped style and discards the petals and sepals. The capsule has 5-ovaries that contain minute seeds. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
