Propagation
Seeds require scarification by nicking the seed coat and or soaking in sulphuric acid for up to 30 minutes prior to sowing.


Botanic information
Leaf: The trifoliaate leaves have 3-elliptical to obovate sessile leaflets that are up to 80 mm (3? in)long with an acute apex. The petiole is up to 60 mm (2? in)long and the underside of the leaflets is slightly pubescent.

Flower: The golden-yellow papillionate flowers have 3-petals and 10-united stamens. They are arranged in a dense pendant-cylindrical axillary raceme that is up to 500mm (20 in) long and appears from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The glabrous flat pod contains hard brown seeds with a narrow wing.
Note
The seeds contain an alkaloid (cytisine) and all parts of the plant are toxic. If ingested it may be lethal.
