Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during autumn or spring and place in a cold frame to germinate. Prick out and pot up when large enough to handle.
Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.

Note:
This shrub will tolerate lime but becomes chlorotic in chalky soils.


Botanic information
Leaf: The small sessile imbricate scale leaves are arranged alternately to slightly whorled densely a long the stems.

Flower: The small sessile tubular to campanulate flowers have an elongated tube that becomes swollen with 5-united lobes and 5-stamens. They appear solitary at the end of short branchlets profusely during early summer.

Fruit: The small oblong capsule has 2-valves and contains numerous tiny seeds that are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
