Propagation
Sow fresh seed from autumn to spring in containers and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Soft tip cuttings of non-the flowering shoots during summer and place in a protected environment until rooting occurs.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile flat linear leaves have an acuminate apex and are dark or grey green.
Flower: The solitary single rotate flowers have 5-pale pink petals with darker pink markings and lacerated margins. They are held above the foliage on a long slender scape and appear during summer.
Fruit: The small 4-valve cylindrical to oblong capsule contains numerous seeds with up to900 per gram. The cultivars are normally propagated vegetatively to maintain true to type.
