Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are lanceolate to narrow-oblong with an acute apex and a short petiole. The glabrous upper surface is glossy dark green and the pubescent underside is pale green with a prominent mid rib.

Flower: The cyathiform flowers have 5-obovate imbricate white petals with undulating margins and a yellow central boss of numerous exserted stamens. They appear singularly or in small axillary cyme toward the end of the branches during summer.

Fruit: The small dehiscent leathery capsule contains numerous seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
