Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring and place in a cold frame until germination.

Division of the clump during autumn or basal cuttings taken during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green basal leaves are lanceolate to oblong and the sessile stem leaves are linear with some serrations.

Flower: The campanulate flowers have 5-pointed greenish sepals and 5-fused petals with exerted central stamens. They appear singularly or in a few flowered terminal raceme that is held above the foliage on a long slender scape that is up to 800mm (44 in) long and appears from early to mid summer.

Fruit: The small dehiscent capsule contained numerous tiny seeds that are release through basal or lateral pores. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
