Botanic information
Leaf: The large fleshy textured linear leaves are channeled and are up to 38mm (1½ in) wide. They tend to fold or droop with age then die off during summer.
Flower: The pale blue to blue-violet stellate flowers have 6-linear perianth segments with 6-exserted stamens that have yellow anthers. They are arranged in a terminal raceme that is held above the foliage on a scape that is up to 1m (3 ft) tall and appear from late spring early summer.
Fruit: The 3-valved loculicidal capsule contains numerous tiny seeds and may be accompanied by persistent tepals. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
