Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.

Note:
This plant may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery but there are grafted plants available for the humid east coast.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous flat leathery texture leaves are oblong to ovate and are up to 40mm (1? in) wide. The toothed margins have a pungent tip and the leaves tend to be curved or twisted.

Flower: The small tubulate flowers have a pedestal that is up to 10 mm (? in)long. The oblong-ovoid pink, glabrous perianth segments are up to 12mm (½in) in length witha protruding deep pink style to 17mm (?in) long.

The flowers are arranged in an a terminal raceme that is up to 50mm (2in) long and are accompanied by triangular bracts up to 25 mm (1 in) in length. The flowers appear from late winter to spring or sporadically throughout the year in warm regions and are pollinated by birds.

Fruit: The oblong to ellipsoidal follicle is up to 9mm (? in) wide with a brownish glabrous pericarp and contains a single elliptical seed to 8mm (? in) long with a short winged around the margin and the apex is oblique. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
