Sow fresh seed during early spring and nick seed coat prior to sowing.

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are narrow oblong to obovate up to 17 mm (? in) wide and have an obtuse-mucronate apex. The margins are recurved and the underside has densely spreading hairs.

Flower: The small tubulate flowers have a pedestal that is up to 3 mm (? in)long and the oblong yellow to greenish perianth segments are up to 15mm (? in) in length witha protruding red style to 20mm (µin) long.

The flowers are arranged in an a terminal, villous raceme that is up to 50mm (2in) long and are accompanied by linear bracts up to 4 mm (? in) long. The flowers appear from winter to spring and are pollinated by birds.

Fruit: The ellipsoidal follicle is up to 7mm (¥ in) wide with a reddish-brown glabrous pericarp and contains a single oblong seed to 14mm (? in) long with a short apical wing. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
