Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
Botanic information
Leaf: The variable stiff leathery ovate leaves have 3 to many lobes that have an acuminate apex with a pungent reddish point. The glossy dark green upper surface is glabrous and the underside is minutely pubescent. The petiole is short and the venation is reticulate.
Flower: The papillionate flowers have a standard that is up to 8 mm (? in) long and is yellow with a red keel. They are arranged in a short terminal or axillary raceme that is up to 50 mm (2 in) long and appears during spring.
Fruit: The small oval pods contain numerous hard coated seeds.
