Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are twice divided into pungent linear lobes that are up to 30 mm (1? in) long with a short petiole. The margins are revolute and the leaves are almost glabrous.

Flower: The small pubescent tubulate flowers have a pedestal up to 6 mm (¥ in)long and the oblong-ovoid pinkish-red perianth segments are up to 8mm (? in) in length witha protruding red style to 20mm (µ in) long. The flowers are arranged in an a one-sided terminal or axillary, villous raceme up to 50mm (2 in) long and are accompanied by ovate bracts up to 1 mm long. The flowers appear during spring and are pollinated by birds.

Fruit: The ovoid-ellipsoidal follicle is up to 8mm (? in) wide with a reddish tomentose covered pericarp and contains a single elliptical seed to 8mm (? in) long with a short narrow win along the margin. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
