Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer and placed in a warm environment, keep moist.
Botanic information
Leaf: The small insignificant linear leaves are short lived, only lasting a couple of days. Photosynthesis is carried out by the green arching stems.
Flower: The fragrant papillionate flowers have a purplish calyx and white petals. The pedestal is short and the flowers are arranged in short, dense axillary raceme that is up to 40 mm (1? in) long and appear during spring.
Fruit: The broad greenish slightly pubescent pod has a short stalk and contains 1-2 seeds that are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
