Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19 to 24° C ( 66 to 75°F).

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and placed on a missing bench.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous ovate leaves have a cordate base and an acuminate apex. They have a slender pale green petiole that is up to 40 mm (1? in) long. The upper surface is dark green and the underside is pale green with a prominent palmate venation that may have a reddish hue.

Flower: The bisexual cyathiform flowers have 5-sepals and 5-imbricate petals with a dense cluster of exserted pink stamens above the superior ovary. The flowers are arranged in a corymb-like terminal panicle that appears from spring to autumn. The flowering period may be variable in tropical climates.

Fruit: The ovoid bright red to dark pink 1-celled capsule is covered in soft bristles. It contains thin seeds that have a waxy bright red aril and are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
