Propagation
Sow fresh seed in containers during autumn and place in a cold frame until germination occurs.

Division of the rhizome immediately after the flowering period.


Botanic information
Leaf: The variable leathery texture to leaves are bluish grey-green and has numerous lobes with scalloped margins. It has a thick bluish petiole is up to 150 mm (6in) long and the leaf underside has prominent venation. When the leaf is fully expanded it is up to 300 mm (1 ft) wide.

Flower: The white to pink tinged single cyathiform flowers have 8 to 12 petals and a central cluster of yellow anthers. They appear between the unfolded leaves on a scape that is up to 230 mm (9 in) long and persist for up to 3-weeks as the leaf unfolds during spring.

Fruit: The ellipsoidal capsule contains the numerous seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
