Botanic information
Leaf: The unspotted dark green basal leaves are oblong to lanceolate with an abruptly acuminate apex and a long petiole. The sessile stem leaves are linear lanceolate and arranged alternately.
Flower: The funnelform flowers have 5-sepals and petals with 5-stamens and are arranged in a forked cyme. It is held above the foliage on a slender leafy scape that is up to 300 mm (1 ft) tall and appears from late winter to early spring.
Fruit: The small fruit consists of 4-smooth nutlets with an annular basal rim. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
