Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during autumn and place in a cold frame until germination has occurred.
Division of the clump during spring, but is slow to recover.
Root cuttings taken during winter.
Botanic information
Leaf: The rounded palmately lobed leaves are divided into three wedge-shaped lobes that are irregularly serrated. It has a cordate base and the petiole is long and brown. The leaves fully develop after flowering period has finished.
Flower: The tiny stellate flowers are arranged in a dense umbel up to 10 mm (? in) wide and are surrounded by leaf-like obovate green bracts that are slightly lobed or toothed towards the apex. The flower head is held above the unfolding foliage on long brownish scape from late winter to early spring.
Fruit: The small ovate to oblong dehiscence schizocarpiccapsule normally splits into two 1-seeded mericarp. The fruit is armed small spikes that attach themselves to clothing or fur to aid in dispersal. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
