Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile thick textured blue green basil leaves are broad-lanceolate and the stem leaves are linear. They have an acute apex and tend to fold upwards along the mid rib.
Flower: The dark purple-brown cyathiform flowers are mottled or speckled greenish yellow and pendant on a long arching pedestal. They are arranged singularly or up to 12 are arranged in a raceme that is held, high above the foliage on a leafy scape from early spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small loculicidal angular capsules have 3-valves and contain numerous flat seeds that are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
