Propagation
Sow fresh seed from late winter to early spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer. Layering during autumn.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green leaves are obovate to elliptical with an acuminate apex and a reddish petiole up to 20 mm (µ in)long. The upper surface is glabrous and the underside is downy along the mid rib. During autumn the leaves turn bright red before falling and are arranged towards the end of the branchlets.
Flower: The small urceolate flowers contract at the mouth with 5-recurved petals and have an arching pedestal that is up to 20 mm (µ in) long. They are arranged in a drooping terminal umbel and appear before the leaves during spring.
Fruit: The small capsule has 5-valves and contains numerous seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
